Townbridge House Fire Procedure EVACUATION Upon hearing the continual sounding of the fire alarm all occupants should evacuate the building immediately, using the nearest available exits. DO NOT USE THE LIFT. When evacuating all doors should be shut to limit the spread of fire and smoke. Once outside the building call 999 and ask for the fire service. Do not assume someone else will have done this. Our alarm system is not linked to the fire service, you must make the call. Do not attempt to collect personal belongings. Occupants should try to account for all members of their party, at no time should they re enter the building to look for someone, all persons missing should be reported to the fire service on their arrival. FIRE DRILLS AND FALSE ALARMS. Occupants should react to fire drills and false alarms in the same way as a real fire. If it is a known false alarm or fire drill there is no need to contact the fire service. If in doubt assume it is a real fire. AFTER THE EVENT Once the fire service has allowed you back into the building you should call 01305 854111 (24hr number) to have the fire alarm reset. When waiting for a reset the fire alarm system is still operational, so on hearing the alarm sound treat as a real danger and follow the evacuation procedure.
